A 26 Year Old Man of Kalomo Jailed for Wounding His Wife

A 26 year old man of chief Siachetema%u2019s area of Kalomo has been sentenced to a three year jail term with hard labour for unlawful gruesome wounding his wife in her private parts following an alleged rape case to his spouse.

Before magistrate, Ben Mbao was John Muchindu of Sikuyuba village who was alleged to have brutally beaten his named spouse after revelations that she was raped by a neighbour on August 20 but the incident was only known during the sexually abused woman's grandmother%u2019s funeral on October 10.

Facts before the court were that the lady who could not posture herself properly at the funeral of her grandmother on the date in question attracted the attention of elderly women who demanded for a feminine inspection and later revealed that she was raped by a neighbour two months ago.

Both the traditional feminine inspection and a medical report proved a sexual abused incident.

However, the rapist is reported to have paid Muchindu three herds of cattle and five hundred kwacha cash after the incident.

It is reported that Muchindu upon her wife revealing the incident, brutally battered her and later took a glowing fire stick to inflict wounds in her thighs and later inserted the stick in her female private parts.

The suspected husband was apprehended on October 24 after the matter was reported to Police and appeared for express gender based violence on Wednesday for gruesome unlawful wounding in the Kalomo magistrate court.
